Eligibility: All Class Years, 3.0 GPA (Freshman) or 2.8 GPA (Returning), ACT 28, SAT 1000, Demonstrated Need (FAFSA required), 15 hours, Community Service


Full Description
Scholarship made possible by the generosity of Media Mogul and Philanthropist Ms. Oprah Winfrey through the Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation. Ms. Winfrey launched this scholarship program in 1989 because she believes that the College has a “moral core” and mission to develop servant leaders focused on excellence, something that is similar to the teachings she learned as a child. Over the last 30 years, the scholarship program has funded the education of almost 600 scholars. Eligibility requirements include:

Incoming Freshman:

  • ACT score of 28 or greater
  • SAT score of 1000 or greater
  • High School cumulative 3.0 GPA or greater
  • 100 hours of demonstrated community service from high school
  • Earn at least 15 hours of non-repeated credit per semester
  • Demonstrated low Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as illustrated on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and confirmed by the College’s Office of Financial Aid

Rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors:

  • Cumulative 2.8 GPA or greater
  • Demonstrated engagement in community service
  • Earn at least 15 hours of non-repeated credit per semester
  • Demonstrated low Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as illustrated on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and confirmed by the College’s Office of Financial Aid

Award Details
Awards vary and will be used to cover tuition, room and board expenses that are not covered by other financial aid and expected family contributions as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or the methodology used by Morehouse College.
